傳統常用的工業紙管（筒）膠主要有明膠、糊化淀粉（包括氧化淀粉及改性淀粉）、聚乙烯醇縮甲醛液（107）膠粘劑、聚醋酸乙烯乳液（白乳膠）、PVA溶液等。
其中明膠、淀粉類膠粘劑由于粘接強度低、存放期短已基本不使用；聚乙烯醇膠粘劑[敏感詞]的缺點就是耐水性差，工業紙管耐壓強度隨存放時間增加大幅度下降，經縮醛化后雖然可得到部分改善，但仍然不能滿足要求；聚醋酸乙烯乳液的耐水性比前幾種膠粘劑都要好，但初粘力低、粘接后工業紙管的耐壓強度和抗蠕變性差是其主要缺點。
